UPDATE (Sunday 21 April 2019):  Victoria Blue earns title with overpowering display. Dominant throughout the tournament, Victoria Blue blasted its way to a thirteenth Women’s National Championship title with a crushing 11-1 win over Western Australia at Narrabundah this afternoon. Carding a six-spot in the third and playing quality defence behind Gabby Bevan, the Vics maintained the offensive pressure to force a mercy-run call in the bottom of five. Congratulations to Victoria Blue! Well done to Western Australia and South Australia, who were respective winners of silver and bronze medals for the tournament. UPDATE(Saturday 20 April 2019):  NSW takes Youth Women's title. New South Wales snared its sixth Youth Women's championship in eight years with a thrilling 11-10 win over a gallant Queensland at Narrabundah this afternoon. At one point holding a six-run break, NSW was chased down late in the game as Queensland plated five in the bottom of seven to come up just short. The National Women's Championship medals games will be played - and live streamed - on Sunday. Baseball Australia REPORT.

The Women’s National Championship will be held at Narrabundah Ballpark, Canberra, from 14-21 April 2019, running concurrently with the Youth Women’s Championship – also at Narrabundah - that will start on 15 April and conclude with finals on Saturday 20 April.

Six state teams have entered for the Women’s Nationals, while the five-team Youth Women’s tournament will include an Indonesian entry resulting from the fine development work of the Diamonds in the Rough programme in conjunction with Indonesian Baseball Federation.

A major event on the Australian baseball calendar, the Women’s Nationals will showcase the very best in senior talent while offering players the opportunity to impress officials keen to set the base in their planning for another competitive outing at next year’s Women’s Baseball World Cup.

With New South Wales Country not entered this time around, a powerhouse New South Wales team will be looking to defend the 2018 title that it recorded by way of a thrilling come from behind win over Victoria Blue – which will again be a threat at the Women’s Nationals, along with South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria White.

For emerging players, the Youth Women’s Championship presents the ideal opportunity to gain invaluable playing experience and forge lasting friendships under the tutelage of experienced coaching staff all committed to the development of women’s baseball from grassroots through to elite level.

Winner of the championship in 2018, Victoria will be pitted against teams from New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and Indonesia – a fascinating entry to the tournament and a tangible result of the intensive work on baseball skills and personal development undertaken with our northern neighbour under the Diamonds in the Rough initiative over recent years.

We wish all teams the very best for an enjoyable and successful experience at the upcoming National Women’s Championship and the Youth Women’s Championship.

Baseball Australia will be providing comprehensive coverage of both events.
