Alumni members and supporters will be interested in the recent publication of “Don Deeble: the man behind the legend” – a project undertaken by Mike Deeble, himself a former Claxton Shield and Australian baseballer who was keen to chronicle the life and achievements of his charismatic and skilled late father, a member of the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.

 

The illustrated publication includes captivating anecdotes, memories and insights provided by a cross-section of Australian baseball people who were privileged to spend time – on and off the diamond – with this fierce competitor and colourful personality who rightly enjoys legendary status in our version of the sport.

 

A must-read for baseball aficionados, “Don Deeble: the man behind the legend” has been a labour of love for Mike Deeble, who has covered production costs himself and has provided complimentary copies of the book to his valued contributors.

 

Among those people, I feel personally honoured that Mike Deeble invited me to provide some modest assistance with the project.
