Alumni auctions to assist junior teams
Australian Baseball Alumni is pleased to announce preliminary fund-raising efforts to assist our young players who will shortly be travelling to baseball tournaments overseas.
Scheduled to open for bidding on Sunday evening (28 June), there will be two separate auctions for baseballs signed by legendary Korean pitcher Dae Sung Koo – now with Sydney Blue Sox – and Australia’s own long-term Major League star Craig Shipley. Proceeds from both auctions will be directed in support of the Australian team as it makes debut appearance at the Under 12 World Cup starting in late August.
The Dae Sung Koo ball is from the inaugural year of the Australian Baseball League competition. It is expected to draw serious interest from Korea. Image and details will be provided on the following eBay link that will be accessible from 8.00 PM Sunday.
The Craig Shipley baseball is a desirable piece of memorabilia signed by an Australian pioneer in Major League baseball who spent sixteen years playing at the highest level. Image and details will be provided on the following eBay link that will be accessible from 8.00 PM Sunday.
We urge Alumni members to support efforts to help offset some of the costs in sending our national team to the Under 12 World Cup.
We are also currently liaising with Perth baseball interests to assist with fund-raising for the Swan Hills team that will be representing Australia at the Cal Ripken World Series. Apart from initiaves already in place, we are please to announce that former Major Leaguer and ABL star Luke Hughes has agreed to assist in offering the following package for auction:
- Family pass to a regular season Perth Heat game as guests of Alumni member and former Major Leaguer Luke Hughes
- Meet and greet with Luke prior to the game for autographs and photos
- Luke will personally Autograph a team Australia batting practice top (photo to be provided)
